About Me

Morgan Huffines

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

I hold a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Converse College and am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (License #7940) registered with the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation’s Board of Examiners for Marriage and Family Therapy.

Originally from Norman, Oklahoma, earned my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Oklahoma, focusing on counseling. I began my graduate studies in Edmond, Oklahoma, before moving to Spartanburg, South Carolina, to attend Converse College—a highly accredited institution recognized by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education. I was a student member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and am now a Clinical Fellow.

My practice is rooted in evidence-based approaches, including Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) by Dr. Sue Johnson and Gottman Method Couples Therapy by Drs. John and Julie Gottman—both extensively researched and proven to be highly effective in strengthening relationships.

I firmly believe that couples therapy has the power to transform not just relationships, but the world itself. When partners are engaged, supportive, and truly present for one another, they create a foundation of love and security that extends to their children, their communities, and future generations. Strong, healthy relationships don’t just happen—they are built with effort, vulnerability, and understanding.

Many people grow up idolizing movie romances—the notion that if you find "the one," everything will naturally fall into place. But in reality, the fairytale doesn’t end at happily-ever-after; it begins there. Love and commitment aren’t just feelings; they are intentional, purposeful, deliberate daily actions. My goal as a therapist is to help couples navigate the reality beyond the fairytale, equipping them with the skills, insight, and connection needed to build a fulfilling, lasting relationship.

At the core of my therapeutic approach is the belief that everyone does the best they can with the information they have at the time. My role is to help clients gain new insights so they can make choices that align with their goals and values. I am committed to creating a therapy space that is inclusive, supportive, and safe for all cultures, backgrounds, and identities.

While my primary focus is on romantic relationships, sexuality, and sexual concerns, I also have significant experience working with individuals facing a range of challenges, from short-term adjustment issues to complex mental health diagnoses.

Whether you're seeking couples therapy or individual support, my goal is to help you build a more fulfilling and less stressful life. Take a look around the website to explore the best options for your needs, and when you're ready, visit the Contact page to schedule an appointment.
